Palm Coast, FL- December 10, 2013 – In an industry where more than 6,000 accidents involving a solid waste truck occur every year, safety is paramount. In an effort to reduce the number of such incidents and reward employees for responsible behaviors, Waste Pro instituted the first, and industry only, $10,000 Safety Award in 2004.
Last month, Waste Pro garbage truck drivers, David Black, Anthony Sloss, and Boris Cofino, were the latest recipients of the $10,000 Safety Award, earned for flawless performance over the last three years. Additionally, David Black and Boris Cofino are receiving their second Safety Award, during their career with Waste Pro. The awards were presented by Waste Pro Division Manager, Jim Cinelli.
Unique to the waste collection and disposal industry, Waste Pro’s Safety Program has distributed more than $700,000 in Safety Awards to their drivers, since 2004.
In order to receive the Safety Award, employees must have a spotless work record for three years, including excellent customer service, no accidents, injuries, or property damage, and they must maintain a positive attitude and attendance record, along with a well-kept truck.
John J. Jennings, President/CEO of Waste Pro USA, stated, “Not many people realize what a difficult job this is and these men seem to make it look easy. They exemplify what Waste Pro is all about. At Waste Pro, safety is paramount and I look forward to distributing many more of these awards.”
