Women of Waste Pro – Sharon Stewart
Sharon Stewart
Administrative Assistant
Longwood, FL
LONGWOOD, FL – April 24, 2023 – In recognition of Administrative Professionals Week, meet Sharon Stewart, Administrative Assistant for the Waste Pro Corporate Office in Longwood, Florida.
“I love coming to work every day. I look forward to what the day brings.”
That’s not a sentiment shared by everyone who answers phones every day – but Sharon Stewart couldn’t imagine doing anything else.
Sharon joined Waste Pro’s corporate office as administrative assistant and had an immediate impact, becoming the glue that holds Waste Pro together. From assisting customers with an issue to organizing corporate events, she does it all.
“My goal is to give each and every caller the attention and satisfaction they’re looking for,” she said. “Every customer wants to feel important and understood, so from the beginning of the call to the end of the call, I want them to feel heard and know they will be assisted.”
Sharon exemplifies customer service and fully embodies the spirit of the ‘Waste Pro Way’. She is the voice people hear when calling the corporate office for any type of support and, even with all the items she juggles daily, never forgets to return a customer call or work with our local team until an item is completed.
“I follow up with them the next day to make sure they’ve received a callback or have had their issue resolved by their local division – that follow-up shows them that we value them,” she said.
Clearly, Sharon is doing something right. She has received dozens of compliments on Google, specifically naming her and thanking her for her assistance.
She also has customers who call back and specifically ask for her, which she takes as a compliment.
“They tell me they know their problem will be solved if they talk to me,” she said. “I can’t take credit for solving their problem – that goes back to the division – but it feels nice to be appreciated.”
Sharon even has customers who call back and converse with her as if they’re “two friends going out to lunch.”
Aside from helping customers, Sharon’s other great joy in her role at Waste Pro is organizing the annual budget meetings that are held at Waste Pro’s corporate office each fall. During these meetings, leaders from across the country travel to Longwood, FL to plan for the next year. Sharon handles everything from booking hotel and car reservations to ordering lunch.
“I love getting to see everybody and be involved,” she said.
She added, “I love the people I work with and saying good morning to everyone every day.”
To anyone who might think the garbage industry isn’t for them, Sharon says just go for it. She had no experience in the industry before joining Waste Pro – her previous career was as a bridal consultant for Burdine’s (now Macy’s).
“If you believe you can do something and that you’re qualified for it, go for it,” she said. “I think they would be happy at Waste Pro.”
When she’s not working, Sharon enjoys spending time with her husband, going on cruises, exercising, and taking care of her dachshunds.
