Many school children in Central Florida rely on free or reduced meals at school. During the summer, they don’t always know where those meals will come from. To make sure they are fed during their summer break, Waste Pro partnered with K92.3, a country music station in Orlando, for a Pack the Pantry event on June 13.
Waste Pro donated a roll off container to collect 10,000 cans of food at the Winter Garden Village; Slater, an on-air personality at the radio station, stayed inside the container until the goal was reached. Within 12 hours, more than 11,000 cans of food were donated.
The food went to The Love Pantry, a local organization that places an emergency food supply in Orange and Seminole County Public Schools for free.
