CITRUS COUNTY, FL – December 16, 2024 – The best days are when Waste Pro can recognize hard-working employees who put safety first, like Citrus County-based Roll-off driver Ronald “Ronnie” Douglas and helper Danny Wanser. They bring their best to work every day and deserve to be celebrated.
During the Safety Award celebration, Citrus County Division Manager Steve Cade shared some heartfelt words. He often reminds his staff of the ‘little engine that could,’ and in that story, the engine exceeded expectations, which he encourages his staff to do. He motivates his drivers and helpers daily that the company’s safety award is achievable because of employees like Ronnie and Danny.
To earn the coveted Safety Award, employees must exhibit the Waste Pro Way daily and meet safety-specific criteria spanning over three years. Eligible drivers receive $10,000, and a similar award of $5,000 is offered to eligible helpers. Since the program’s inception in 2004, over 900 drivers and helpers have earned the award – 30 earning multiple times – totaling over $8.6 million awarded to Waste Pros who have met the requirements. Waste Pro’s founder and executive board chairman, John Jennings, established the Safety Award Program to enhance and increase commitment to safety and showcase the importance of making safety a daily top priority. This program exemplifies the company’s commitment to safety while recognizing the front-line workers for their service and dedication to making safety a priority.
