SANFORD, FL – December 16, 2024 – Florida’s first Little League World Series championship team is being celebrated with a custom truck from Waste Pro, the solid waste and recycling company based in Central Florida and a proud team sponsor of the Lake Mary All Stars, 12 and under team. Lake Mary’s journey to victory was remarkable, as they rolled through districts, sectionals, the state tournament, and, eventually, the Warner Robins, Georgia regional competition. The team’s determination was evident as they defeated South Dakota and Washington in its first two LLWS games, lost 4-1 to Texas, and then reeled off five consecutive victories in elimination games to face reigning World Series champions from Chinese Taipei for the title.
Finally, on a global stage, the Lake Mary Little League All-Stars team defeated Taoyuan City, Chinese Taipei, 2-1 with a bunt in the second extra inning to win Florida’s first-ever Little League World Series title in the championship’s 77-year history.
Waste Pro is proud of the Lake Mary team and the season they had. “We don’t just say we are a company that cares about the local community. We are a local company that truly cares about and supports the local communities where our people live, work, and play. I am proud of the team and proud to share this moment in time on one of our collection trucks that serves the Lake Mary community,” shared Regional Vice President Erik Sankey.
The company’s community involvement is a testament to its dedication, as it sponsored the team’s homecoming block party and parade earlier this year and is now showing its team spirit with a custom-designed truck wrap featuring the team. The truck, featuring celebratory team photos, will drive through Longwood, Lake Mary, and Sanford, Florida, neighborhoods as it services customers throughout Seminole County and the team’s hometown of Lake Mary.
