BILOXI, MS – Waste Pro congratulates Harrison County Supervisor, Connie Rockco, on her appointment as the first female president of the Mississippi Association of Supervisors (MAS). Her installation was recognized at a reception hosted by the association at Biloxi’s White House Hotel on June 15th during their 87th annual convention.
The event was sponsored by Waste Pro, as well as by other local community partners, such as the Southern Mississippi Planning & Development District, MedStat and American Medical Response. Mississippi State Treasurer, Lynn Fitch, as well as Harrison County Supervisors, Angel Kibler Middleton, Marlin Ladner and Beverly Martin were in attendance as well as Waste Pro Gulf Coast Landfills Manager, Roger Applewhite and Waste Pro of Gautier Division Manager, Jon Bierd.
“Connie Rockco is not only a leader in Harrison County,” said Jon Bierd. “She has led statewide environmental protection programs and wrote legislation for the first Beautification and Environmental Commission in Mississippi. We are excited to continue our partnership with her in keeping Mississippi clean, safe and beautiful.”
Throughout her career, Connie Rockco has led a tradition of “firsts.” After serving as head of the respiratory department of Hancock County Hospital at 19, she became the first female medic on the Gulf Coast. Also, she is the first Harrison County Supervisor to serve on the MAS committee.
For more than 75 years, the Mississippi Association of Supervisors has served as a non-partisan forum for county officials to address important issues facing local constituents, providing a mechanism to share information and to develop a proactive policy agenda.
