LONGWOOD, FL – March 31st – Waste Pro USA announced today a $3,000,000 initiative to install video cameras in all of its residential and commercial waste hauling and recycling trucks. A project which Waste Pro expects to implement in phases will provide each truck with an onboard camera system, providing vantage points from each side of the vehicle, in addition to interior cab views.
Waste Pro Vice President and CFO, Cort Sabina, stated, “The intent of adding cameras to the trucks is to promote safe behaviors, as well as protect the company from potential accident related lawsuits.”
Currently, approximately 15% of Waste Pro’s fleet is equipped with a camera system and the conversion for the entire fleet should be finalized by the end of 2016. The financial investment is considered minor compared to the benefits received.
Throughout the waste industry, similar camera systems have been used to assist law enforcement personnel in determining root causes of accidents, in addition to providing evidence as to fault.
Waste Pro is one of this country’s fastest growing privately owned solid waste collection, recycling, processing and disposal companies, operating in eight southeastern states. Serving more than two million customers from over 500 operating locations, Waste Pro USA is headquartered in Longwood, Florida and maintains more than 250 exclusive municipal contracts and franchises.
