PALM COAST, FL June 18, 2012– Waste Pro is making hazardous waste collection more convenient for Palm Coast residents, by providing “front door” service.
Waste Pro’s hazardous waste collection services will be on Saturdays, once a month, and is already included residents’ solid waste service bill. Prior to pick up, Residents must call Waste Pro to identify the items being put out for collection. The Department of Environmental Regulation requires a record to be kept of what items are being collected and from whom. Items will be collected from front doors or garage doors, but will not be collected if placed at the curb.
“During our first week of hazardous waste collection service, we made 19 pickups,” stated John Cinelli, Division Manager for Waste Pro’s Bunnell office.
Per City regulations, accepted items include household cleaners, pesticides, motor oil, fluorescent light bulbs, antifreeze, paint, and household batteries. All chemicals must be of a residential nature and not of commercial origin, and must be in their original containers. Additionally, hazardous waste items placed in recycling bins will not be collected.
This new service comes on the heels of Waste Pro’s recent announcement of plans to construct a Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) fueling facility at its Bunnell office. This new facility is part of Waste Pro’s company-wide transition to CNG fueled collection vehicles, which produce less emissions and noise, along with lower fuel costs.
