LONGWOOD, FL – February 12, 2024, Waste Pro announces the promotion of Romeo Vellutini to Vice President of Safety and Risk Management.
Originally from Denver, Colorado, Romeo spent much of his life in Las Vegas. He joined the Waste Pro team in 2017 and has more than 29 years of experience in the solid waste industry.
Before joining Waste Pro in 2017, he was an Area Safety Manager for Republic Services. In that role, Romeo was instrumental in developing process improvements, claims/risk reduction, OSHA/DOT compliance, team building, and cultural change. One of his greatest accomplishments was when he and his team were recognized and awarded for finishing first in safety compliance companywide.
In his tenure at Waste Pro, Romeo has taken the lead in increasing the safety protocols throughout the company’s footprint, creating and expanding critical programs that set the precedent within the industry, and leading safety initiatives throughout solid waste management. Cort Sabina, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, shares, “The contributions that Romeo has and continues to make to Waste Pro not only save lives but increase profitability, performance, and risk management. He and his team have created and continue to improve upon our Driver Training Centers and our Driver Mentor program, as well as helping to build up the Co-Heart program from being not only a place to help employees pass their CDL driving test but to be a program that will teach and test, allowing us to create a team of safety-focused and community-minded drivers on the road today.”
In October 2023, the Florida Chamber of Commerce recognized Romeo and a handful of distinguished business leaders from various industries honored at the Florida Chamber Annual Meeting & Future of Florida Forum for their contributions to lawsuit abuse tort reform.
